The first trip of the season

This spring, that moment felt different. After three seasons with the bowrider Nordkapp Avant 550, Arvid upgraded to the Nordkapp Avant 705. His first trip, from the dealer’s dock in Kristiansand to his home harbour in Lindesnes, was one to remember.

The first impression

The 550 bowrider had served the family well. Three good years and plenty of memories. But as summers grew fuller with friends joining at the cabin and longer stretches of coastline calling, the boat started to show its limits. For Arvid, the Avant 705 was the answer:

“It’s the perfect choice.”

He acquired his new boat at the end of March and went for a drive right away. Seated behind the wheel, the first thing that struck him was the space. The extra 1.5 metres are immediately noticeable in the bow, across the stern, and especially behind the windshield.

40 nautical miles: The maiden voyage

The first nautical miles from the dealer were especially exciting. Everything was new: the feel of the hull, the response of the wheel, and the way the 705 sat in the water with a steadiness the 550 never quite matched.

Despite being 7 metres long, the boat felt agile, willing and easy to read. The bow thruster made docking in crosswind effortless rather than tense.

“I got to experience both calm water and some waves, and the 705 was wonderful to handle."

The passage through the picturesque islands of Ny-Hellesund was the kind of stretch that reminds you why you do this. Arriving at his home harbour with his family standing on the dock waiting was something else entirely.

The season ahead

With the dream boat secured, Arvid and his family look forward to a summer of longer trips and new stretches of the Sørlandet coastline, exploring areas that once felt out of reach.
